INAUGURATION POET AMANDA GORMAN IS NOW A VEGAN COOKIE FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH
San Diego-based vegan brand Maya’s Cookies just launched a collection of cookies for Black History Month. Brand owner Maya Madsen crafted the specialty cookies to evoke the work of three Black icons. The Amanda Gorman is made in honor of the 22-year-old National Youth Poet Laureate who delivered “The Hill We Climb” poem during the 2021 inauguration. Johnny Ritchey Breaking Barriers Scholarship nominations now open
In addition to the Johnny Ritchey Breaking Barriers Scholarship, the Padres will also be partnering with Maya’s Cookies, a locally owned Black-business, to provide cookies to volunteers at various COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites throughout San Diego County during the month of February. Launched in 2015 by owner Maya Madsen, Maya’s Cookies is now the number one Black-owned vegan cookie company throughout the United States.
