As a vegan with a sweet tooth, she had not been able to find the perfectly delicious, soft-baked vegan cookie she was looking for, so she spent years developing her own recipe. Additionally, the added income was a way to contribute to her 3 sons’ college educations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted Black business owners Between February and April 2020, the number of Black business owners witnessed a sharp decline of 40-percent according to Forbes. After the resurgence of the Buy Black movement in the summer of that same year, which encouraged individual consumers to shop with Black-owned businesses whenever possible, Black businesses experienced a boom of support. In fact, Bloomberg reports, the number of Black business owners in operation increased to 1.5 million last August.
